Description

The wheelchair is an object used in media rumors. It is an object forgotten in farce, just like the reality forgotten on the Internet, only some fragments are captured. No one cares where it comes from or how it is handled afterwards, but as a component of the event, it will never disappear in the virtual world. The original text is integrated with other unrelated texts by machine algorithms (Markov chain), and is constantly reconstructed. Even in the reconstruction, this word is repeatedly retained and used. The different fictional situations in the picture unfold the reverie of the "history" of this isolated object.
This work is inspired by the fake news in the French Yellow Vest Revolution (Mouvement des Gilets Jaunes), that is, the incident of a man in a wheelchair being violently treated by the police. It was one of the cases that aroused strong attention and anger at the time and caused great controversy on social media. There were multiple versions of similar incidents during that period, and there were also many false news and misleading clips circulating.
